There is good news for hotels, restaurants and other commercial LPG users. Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have reduced the price of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders by more than ₹200 from August 1.

This is the second consecutive monthly price cut, offering relief after prices had surged during the West Asia conflict.

However, there is no change in the price of domestic LPG cylinders, meaning households will continue to pay the existing rates.

Commercial LPG Prices Cut Again

The latest price revision has brought significant relief for commercial users across the country.

Delhi: Price reduced by ₹202

Kolkata: Price reduced by ₹209

5-kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinder: Price cut by ₹13

After the revision, a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder in Kolkata now costs ₹2,872.50, while the 5-kg FTL cylinder in Delhi is priced at ₹808.50.

This is the second straight reduction in commercial LPG prices after a similar cut in June.

Why Were Prices Reduced?

Commercial LPG prices had climbed sharply earlier this year due to geopolitical tensions in West Asia, especially during the conflict involving Iran.

As international LPG prices have eased, Oil Marketing Companies have started lowering commercial cylinder prices. Before the recent cuts, a 19-kg commercial cylinder in Delhi had reached ₹3,071.50. Prices have now dropped by nearly ₹400 over the past two months.

No Change in Domestic LPG Cylinder Price

While commercial users have received relief, domestic LPG cylinder prices remain unchanged.

This means households using regular cooking gas cylinders will continue to pay the current rates, as the latest revision applies only to commercial LPG cylinders and 5-kg free trade cylinders.

Government Says Fuel Supply Is Stable

The Centre has assured citizens that there is no shortage of LPG, petrol or diesel in the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently chaired a high-level review meeting with senior ministers to assess the energy situation.

Officials informed the government that India has diversified its LPG import sources and currently has sufficient fuel stocks to meet demand.

The government is also expanding Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections, strengthening the National Gas Grid, and improving LNG import infrastructure to ensure a stable and reliable energy supply across the country.

The latest reduction in commercial LPG prices is expected to lower operating costs for restaurants, hotels and small businesses that rely heavily on commercial gas cylinders.

Meanwhile, domestic consumers will have to wait for any future revision in household LPG prices.
