Google Pay Gets Gemini AI to Help You Save Money

Google has added its AI assistant Gemini to Google Pay with a new feature called Ask Google Pay. It helps users understand their spending, manage their budget, and get personalized money-saving tips.

The feature is optional, which means it is turned off by default. Users can choose to enable it if they want. Google has also launched the new Google Pay Flex SBI RuPay Credit Card in India.

What is Ask Google Pay?

Ask Google Pay is an AI-powered assistant inside the Google Pay app. It analyzes your spending habits and answers questions related to your finances in simple language.

With this feature, users can:

Track spending patterns

Get personalized savings tips

Find suitable credit card offers

Check SIP details

View their CIBIL score

Ask questions about payments and expenses

Google says the feature is designed to help users better understand where their money is being spent.

You Can Ask Questions in 10 Indian Languages

Users can interact with Ask Google Pay through text or voice. At launch, it supports 10 Indian languages.

You can ask questions like:

“Analyze my expenses from last week.”

“Which card is best for my spending?”

“Where did I spend the most money last month?”

The feature is currently rolling out to selected Google Pay users in India.

Your Data Stays Under Your Control

To use Ask Google Pay, users must manually turn on Personalization in Google Pay settings.

Once enabled, the AI can use:

Google Pay transaction history

Saved payment methods

Google account information

CIBIL report

This helps provide more accurate financial insights. Users can also view their AI chat history for up to 42 days and turn off personalization whenever they want.

How to Enable Ask Google Pay

Follow these steps to start using the feature:

Open the Google Pay app.

Go to Settings.

Open Privacy & Security.

Tap Data & Personalization.

Turn on Personalization.

Go to the Money tab.

Tap Ask a Question under Ask about your finances to start chatting with the AI assistant.
