No. Since July 25, 2026, is the fourth Saturday, bank branches across India remain closed today.
However, online and mobile banking services continue to function normally.
Will Online Banking Work During Bank Holidays?
Yes. Even when bank branches are closed, customers can continue using digital banking services without interruption.
You can use:
UPI
NEFT
RTGS
Internet Banking
Mobile Banking
These services can be used for fund transfers, bill payments, online shopping, and other banking transactions throughout the holidays.
However, services that require a visit to a bank branch—such as document verification, cheque-related work, cash deposits at the counter, or branch-initiated RTGS requests—will only be available when branches reopen.
RBI’s Bank Holiday Categories
The RBI classifies bank holidays into three categories:
Negotiable Instruments Act Holidays: Branch operations and cheque clearing remain closed.
RTGS Holidays: Branch-based RTGS services are unavailable.
Bank Closing of Accounts: Usually observed on April 1 for annual account closing.
Final Take
Banks across India will remain closed for 14 days in August 2026, including weekends and festival holidays.
If you need to visit a branch for important work, check the holiday list in advance to avoid inconvenience.
For most everyday banking needs, you can continue using UPI, internet banking, NEFT, RTGS, and mobile banking even when bank branches are closed.
