WhatsApp keeps adding small but useful features to make its app more convenient.

Now, the company is introducing a new update for iPhone users that makes voice and video calls easier.

If you regularly use WhatsApp for calling, this feature will let you change your microphone mode without leaving the call.

The update is being released in phases, so it may take some time before it appears on all iPhones.

Change Mic Mode Without Opening Control Center

According to WABetaInfo, the feature has been spotted in the WhatsApp for iOS 26.27.74 beta version.

Once available, you’ll see a new Mic Mode option inside the More menu during a WhatsApp call.

Earlier, users had to open the iPhone’s Control Center to access microphone settings.

With this update, you can reach the same settings directly from WhatsApp, making the process much quicker.

It’s important to note that WhatsApp is not introducing a new microphone system.

The app simply provides a shortcut to Apple’s existing Mic Mode settings. Once you choose a Mic Mode, it will remain active for future WhatsApp calls until you change it again.

Apple Mic Modes Explained

Apple offers four different microphone modes, each designed for a specific situation.

Voice Isolation: This mode reduces background noise and focuses on your voice, making it easier for the person on the other end to hear you clearly.

Wide Spectrum: This mode captures both your voice and surrounding sounds.

It’s useful during family gatherings, meetings, or parties where you want others to hear the environment as well.

Standard: This is the default microphone setting with no special audio processing.

Automatic: Introduced with iOS 18, this mode automatically selects the best microphone setting based on your surroundings.

Which iPhones Will Support the Feature?

Voice Isolation and Wide Spectrum require iOS 15 or later and work on iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and newer models.

The Automatic Mic Mode is available only on iPhones running iOS 18 or later.

When Will You Get the Update?

WhatsApp is rolling out this feature gradually, so not every iPhone user will receive it immediately.

If the option hasn’t appeared on your device yet, you’ll likely get it in a future update.

Once available, you’ll be able to switch microphone modes directly from WhatsApp during a call, eliminating the need to repeatedly open the Control Center.

This small change can make voice and video calls much more convenient for iPhone users.
