Passengers were excited when direct flights between Noida International Airport and Navi Mumbai International Airport were launched.
The new service offered a non-stop travel option between two of India’s newest airports.
However, just a few weeks after its launch, the airline has temporarily suspended the route. Here’s why the decision was taken.
Which Airline Has Suspended the Flight?
The airline is Akasa Air, which started the direct Noida–Navi Mumbai service on June 16.
The flight was India’s first non-stop service connecting two newly built airports.
However, the airline suspended the route on July 1, just around 15 days after operations began.
Why Were the Flights Suspended?
According to the airline, the route did not receive the expected number of passengers.
Both Noida International Airport and Navi Mumbai International Airport are still new and have limited connectivity.
Poor road and rail access, the absence of direct metro links, expensive taxi fares, and high airport charges made it difficult to attract enough travelers.
Because of these challenges, Akasa Air decided to temporarily suspend the service.
Two New Flights Introduced
After discontinuing the Noida–Navi Mumbai route, Akasa Air introduced two daily flights between Mumbai and Noida.
The airline has also suspended its direct Bengaluru–Noida flight as part of its route adjustments.
Flight May Return in October
Akasa Air has clarified that the Noida–Navi Mumbai service has not been permanently cancelled.
The airline said it regularly reviews its flight network based on passenger demand, weather conditions, flight schedules, and aircraft availability.
According to the current plan, the direct Noida–Navi Mumbai flight is expected to resume from October 1, 2026.
