If you’ve recently moved to a new city for work, studies, or any other reason, updating the address on your Aadhaar card is important.

Earlier, this meant visiting an Aadhaar Seva Kendra, standing in long queues, and spending several hours to complete the process.

Now, things have become much easier.

UIDAI has launched a new Aadhaar app that allows users to update their Aadhaar address from home in just a few simple steps.

New Aadhaar App Replaces the Old mAadhaar App

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has discontinued the old mAadhaar app from June 30, 2026, and introduced the new Aadhaar app.

It is available on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

The new app comes with several useful features, including Face Authentication, which makes identity verification faster and more secure.

With these new features, many Aadhaar-related services can now be completed online without visiting an Aadhaar center.

How to Update Your Aadhaar Address Using the New App

Updating your address through the new Aadhaar app is simple.

First, download the new Aadhaar app on your smartphone and complete the registration process.

Once the setup is finished, open the app. Your masked Aadhaar card will appear on the home screen.

Tap on the Services option and select Address Update. You will see your current address along with two ways to update it.

The first option lets you upload a valid address proof to update your new address.

The second option allows you to update your address using the Aadhaar card of a family member.

Choose the option that suits your situation.

After selecting the method, upload the required documents or your family member’s Aadhaar details.

Then complete the Face Authentication process to verify your identity.

Once verification is successful, pay the online fee of ₹75.

After the payment is completed, you will receive a Service Request Number (SRN). You can use this number to track the status of your address update anytime.

Address Update May Take Up to 15 Days

According to UIDAI, the address update process may take up to 15 days.

If all the submitted documents are correct, your new address will be updated without the need to visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra.

The new Aadhaar app saves both time and effort by allowing users to complete the entire process from home.

If you’ve recently shifted to a new city, you can now update your Aadhaar address in just a few minutes and avoid long queues at Aadhaar centers.
