There is big good news for lakhs of employees and pensioners in Uttar Pradesh.

The Yogi Adityanath government has increased Dearness Allowance (DA) by 2 percent, bringing it from 58% to 60%.

With this decision, government employees will now receive higher salaries, while pensioners will also get an increase in their pension amount.

The revised DA will be effective from January 1, 2026.

The decision is expected to benefit around 16 lakh employees across the state.

Which Employees Will Get the Benefit?

The Uttar Pradesh government has approved the DA hike for regular and full-time employees working in technical education institutions and urban local bodies.

According to the government order, employees will start receiving the increased DA amount along with their May 2026 salary.

The arrears from January 2026 to April 2026 will not be paid fully in cash.

Instead, the amount will be deposited in Provident Fund (PF), PPF, or National Savings Certificate (NSC).

Special Rules for NPS Employees

The government has also announced special provisions for employees covered under the National Pension System (NPS).

A part of the arrears amount will be deposited into the employee’s Tier-1 pension account, while the remaining amount will be invested through PPF or NSC.

At the same time, retired employees and those who are going to retire within the next six months will receive the full arrears amount in cash.

How Much Will Salary Increase?

The DA hike will directly increase the monthly salary of employees.

For example, if an employee’s basic salary is ₹30,000, they were earlier getting ₹17,400 as DA at the rate of 58%.

After the increase to 60%, the DA amount will become ₹18,000.

This means the employee’s salary will increase by ₹600 every month, or ₹7,200 annually.

Similarly, an employee with a basic salary of ₹20,000 was receiving ₹11,600 as DA earlier.

After the hike, the DA will rise to ₹12,000.

In this case, the employee will get an extra ₹400 every month.
