Women in West Bengal to Get ₹3,000 and Free Bus Travel

There is a wave of happiness in West Bengal after the state cabinet, led by Suvendu Adhikari, announced some major decisions for women.

In its second cabinet meeting, the government approved a new scheme called the Annapurna Bhandar Yojana.

Under this scheme, eligible women will receive ₹3,000 every month along with free bus travel facilities.

When Will the Annapurna Bhandar Yojana Start?

The Annapurna Bhandar Yojana is expected to begin in West Bengal from June 1st (tentative date). Under this scheme, women will get financial assistance of ₹3,000 every month.

Apart from this, women will also be able to travel free of cost on buses across the state. The scheme is mainly aimed at helping women manage household expenses and daily needs.

Meanwhile, this government bank has increased FD interest rates, and the new rates have come into effect from today.

Who Will Get the Benefit of the Scheme?

Women who meet the following conditions may get benefits under the Annapurna Bhandar Yojana:

Must be a permanent resident of West Bengal

Should belong to the economically weaker section

Annual income should be low

Must be above 25 years of age

Name should be included in the ration card list (BPL/AAY/PHH)

Who Will Not Get the Benefit?

The following women may not be eligible for the scheme:

Women who are not permanent residents of West Bengal

Permanent or retired government employees

Women whose annual income is more than ₹2 lakh

Documents Required for Annapurna Yojana

The following documents will be needed for registration:

Aadhaar Card

Ration Card

Aadhaar-linked bank passbook

Address proof

Passport-size photograph

How to Register for Annapurna Yojana?

Registration for the Annapurna Yojana has not started yet in West Bengal. Once the official portal is launched, eligible women will be able to register using their mobile number and ration card details.

Purpose of Annapurna Bhandar Yojana

The main objective of the Annapurna Bhandar Yojana is to support women living in West Bengal, especially those from economically weaker and middle-class families.

Women who are already getting benefits under the Lakshmi Bhandar Scheme will automatically receive benefits under the Annapurna Bhandar Yojana as well.

The monthly financial support is expected to help women handle household expenses and health-related needs more easily.
