There is big news for people in Bastar.
The long-awaited air service has finally started again, bringing relief and excitement to the region.
Alliance Air has resumed flights on the Raipur–Jagdalpur–Hyderabad route from March 31 under its summer schedule.
With this, Bastar is once again connected to major cities across the country.
Travel Time Reduced, Convenience Increased
Under the new schedule, flights will depart from Hyderabad in the morning, reach Raipur via Jagdalpur, and then return on the same route.
This journey now takes only a few hours, which is much faster than traveling by road or train.
For people in Bastar, this is a big advantage.
Earlier, long journeys made travel difficult, especially for patients, students, and businesspeople.
Now, reaching big cities for treatment, education, or work has become easier and quicker.
Why This Flight Service Matters
Air connectivity has always been a challenge in a remote region like Bastar.
This new service can change that.
It will help critically ill patients reach better hospitals faster.
At the same time, tourism is expected to grow, especially in popular places like Chitrakoot and Tirathgarh.
Along with tourism, this move can also boost trade and bring new investment opportunities.
Experts believe better air connectivity is key to a region’s development, and this step is important for Bastar’s growth.
Why Was the Service Stopped Earlier?
This flight service was running earlier but was stopped in August 2024.
The main reasons were the end of the UDAN subsidy, low passenger numbers, and rising operating costs.
After the shutdown, people had to travel long distances just to reach Raipur or other cities.
Low Response on First Day Raises Questions
Currently, the flight runs only three days a week—Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
On the first day, the response was quite low.
Only 17 passengers traveled to Hyderabad, while 9 went to Raipur.
This is much lower than the 70-seat capacity of the aircraft.
This has raised concerns about whether the service might be stopped again if the number of passengers does not increase.
However, experts say this is just the beginning.
Many people are still not aware of the service.
As awareness grows, more passengers are expected to use it.
What It Means for Bastar
The restart of this flight service is a big step forward for Bastar.
It will make travel easier, improve healthcare access, and support tourism and business growth.
If more people start using it regularly, this service could become a permanent and reliable option for the region.
