OpenAI is reportedly working on a new feature for ChatGPT that could allow more mature conversations for adult users.
In version v1.2026.055 of the app, code references to something called “Naughty Chats” were discovered.
This appears to be an optional erotica mode designed strictly for users aged 18 and above.
The feature is not live yet.
It was found hidden inside the latest app update and seems to still be under development.
If launched, the mode would allow the chatbot to use more adult-themed or “spicier” language — but only when a user specifically asks for it.
Importantly, it would be turned off by default and would need to be manually enabled.
Strict Age Verification in Place
OpenAI plans to limit access to verified adults only.
According to the code findings, the company is building age-verification systems to confirm that a user is at least 18 years old before activating the feature.
The system may check account history and activity patterns.
If it cannot confirm a user’s age, additional steps may be required.
This could include uploading a selfie or verifying identity through a third-party service.
The goal appears to be clear: allow more freedom for adults while maintaining strong safety controls.
Not a Completely New Idea
This move doesn’t come out of nowhere.
Previously, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman had spoken about relaxing certain content restrictions for verified adults.
He mentioned the idea of “treating adults like adults,” but emphasized that strong safety systems must come first.
The possible “Naughty Chats” mode seems to align with that earlier vision.
No Official Launch Date Yet
For now, there is no official announcement about when — or if — this feature will roll out publicly.
OpenAI is still developing and testing the tools needed to ensure the feature is safe, controlled, and age-appropriate.
Until then, “Naughty Chats” remains a hidden feature spotted in code — and a sign that ChatGPT’s future may include more personalized content options for adult users.
