WhatsApp has introduced an exciting new feature for its users, specially designed for group chats.
With this feature, new members added to a group can receive chat history from the past 14 days. This helps new users understand the ongoing conversations in the group more easily.
According to WABetaInfo, this feature is currently available in WhatsApp Beta for iOS version 26.2.10.73. WABetaInfo has also shared a screenshot of this feature on X (formerly Twitter).
Maximum Limit of 100 Messages
As per the screenshots shared, some beta users can share recent chat history with newly added group members. However, WhatsApp has set a limit of up to 100 messages from the last 14 days.
This feature ensures that new members do not feel left out and can quickly catch up with what is being discussed in the group.
Option to Choose Number of Messages
WhatsApp also allows users to decide how many messages they want to share. Users can choose to share 100, 75, 50, or 25 messages with the new group member.
To check whether this feature is available, beta users need to add a new member to a group.
After tapping on “Add Member” from the group chat info screen and selecting a contact, an option to share recent messages will appear at the bottom of the screen.
Feature Disabled by Default, Stable Version Expected Soon
This feature is disabled by default, meaning users must manually choose to share recent chat history. Users also have the option to not share any messages if they prefer.
Currently, this feature is available only in the beta version and is being tested on both iOS and Android. After successful testing, WhatsApp is expected to roll out the stable version for users worldwide soon.
