The Meteorological Department has reported that a new Western Disturbance is entering the mountains today, December 5.
This system will bring light to moderate rain and snowfall in the higher areas of Jammu and Kashmir, leading to worsening weather conditions.
Some parts of Himachal Pradesh will remain cloudy, and there may be light drizzle, but heavy rainfall is unlikely.
This weather system will also intensify the cold wave in Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh.
Apart from this, the IMD has predicted heavy rain with strong winds in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh for the next two days due to Cyclonic Circulation Ditvaah.
Light rain is also expected in nearby areas of Karnataka and Kerala.
Weather in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh
Most parts of Bihar are already showing signs of a severe cold wave with light winds.
Due to the weather system affecting the mountains, the cold is expected to increase over the next two days, bringing intense cold and fog.
In Uttar Pradesh, the weather is getting worse. Although the sun appears during the day, evenings are becoming extremely cold.
The IMD has reported poor visibility due to fog in many districts, including Kanpur, Prayagraj, Lucknow, Jhansi, and Agra.
The minimum temperature in the state has dropped to around 5°C, indicating severe cold.
Temperature in Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana
In Madhya Pradesh, the cold wave continues, with most districts experiencing severe cold. In the next 2–4 days, dense morning fog is expected, reducing visibility.
In Punjab and Haryana, minimum temperatures have dropped below 10°C, and in cities like Ludhiana, Bathinda, Chandigarh, Patiala, Amritsar, Narnaul,
and Karnal, temperatures have fallen below 5°C. A dense fog alert has been issued for both morning and evening.
Rajasthan Weather Update
Rajasthan continues to face freezing cold due to icy winds. Fatehpur recorded a minimum temperature of around 2°C for the past two days. Other districts recorded temperatures below 9°C on Thursday.

Fatehpur: 2.2°C
Lunkaransar: 2.9°C
Sikar: 3.8°C
Nagaur: 4°C
Churu: 4.7°C
Dausa: 4.8°C
Alwar: 5°C
Temperatures may drop further by the weekend, increasing the cold and fog across the region.
Weather in Delhi Today
Delhi recorded its season’s lowest maximum temperature at 23.1°C. The minimum temperature was 5.6°C, which is 3.9°C below normal.
According to the IMD:
Morning wind speed from the northwest will be around 10 km/h.
Afternoon wind speed may be below 12 km/h, and less than 10 km/h in the evening and night, increasing cold.
Many areas will remain cloudy with light morning fog and cold wave conditions.

Rain and Snowfall in Himachal Pradesh
Light rain and snowfall are expected in the higher hills of Chamba, Kangra, and Kullu on Friday and Sunday.
Dense fog has also been reported near the Bhakra Dam (Bilaspur) and Balh Valley (Mandi).
Temperatures in high-altitude areas remain extremely low:
Tabo (Lahaul-Spiti): –7.4°C
Kukumseri: –4°C
Samdho: –3.9°C
Kalpa: –0.6°C
Solan recorded the highest daytime temperature at 23°C. The weather will turn even colder after snowfall.
Weather in Jammu & Kashmir and Uttarakhand
A Western Disturbance will bring dark clouds over Jammu, Leh, Srinagar, and Pathankot. Light rain and snowfall may continue through Saturday and Sunday.
Temperatures in Leh, Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Qazigund, and Srinagar are already below freezing.
Cold, fog, and snowfall are expected to increase.
In Uttarakhand, temperatures will fall sharply due to rain and snowfall, making the cold more intense.
Weather in Tamil Nadu Today
A weather alert has been issued for Cyclonic Storm Ditvaah, which will affect Tamil Nadu for the next two days. Heavy rain, strong winds, thunderstorms, and lightning are expected on December 5 and 6.
