UAE makes Visit Visa Extension Simple

The United Arab Emirates has made the visit visa extension process much simpler.

New online services and flexible rules now allow most visitors to extend their stay without any paperwork hassles.

However, not all visit visas are eligible for extension, so checking your visa type first is essential.

Most tourist, business, medical, study, training, and family visit visas can be extended from within the UAE.

Even GCC citizens can renew their visit visas once, depending on approval.

One important point to remember: you must apply before your visa expires.

Dubai no longer offers a 10-day grace period, and overstaying will cost you AED 50 per day.

UAE Visit Visa Extension Fees

The total cost of extending a visit visa depends on your visa type and whether you apply from inside the UAE.

The standard extension fee starts at AED 600, plus 5% VAT.

If you’re applying from within the UAE, there is an additional AED 500 processing fee.

You will also be charged AED 10 for Knowledge Dirhams and AED 10 for Innovation Dirhams.

Since charges can vary slightly based on your visa category, it’s best to check the latest fees on the ICP portal or at an Amer Center.

The good news is that you can extend your visa without leaving the country.

Applications can be submitted online or at service centers.

How to Apply for a Visa Extension Online

Extending your visa online is quick and convenient:

Log in to the ICP Smart Services portal or app using your UAE Pass.

Select the tourist visa extension or related service.

Enter your personal, passport, and travel details.

Upload the required documents, such as your passport copy and current visa.

Pay the required fees.

You will receive a confirmation email with an application ID for tracking.

How to Apply In Person

If you prefer visiting a center, you can extend your visa at an Amer Center or Customer Happiness Center:

Take a queue ticket and wait for your turn.

Submit your application and supporting documents.

Pay the service fee at the counter.

If your visa was arranged by a sponsor or travel agency, they can also apply for the extension on your behalf.

Overstaying Is a Serious Offense

Overstaying a visit visa in the UAE leads to immediate fines, and tourist visa holders do not receive any grace period.

Golden and Green visa holders and their families can stay up to 180 days after their visa expires, while other residents typically get 30 to 60 days.

All fines must be cleared before applying for a new visa or exiting the UAE.

Staying informed and applying on time will help you avoid penalties and ensure a smooth stay in the country.
