Passport Verification Record Now available on DigiLocker

A new feature has been added to DigiLocker that allows users to access their Passport Verification Record (PVR) directly.

This update has been introduced by the Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeitY) in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the National e-Governance Division (NeGD).

The announcement was shared on the official Digital India X (Twitter) handle.

Purpose of the Feature: Less Paperwork, More Convenience

With the addition of PVR, DigiLocker users can now securely check their passport

verification details anytime and anywhere.
This feature aims to:

Reduce the need for physical documents

Remove delays caused by manual verification

Simplify one of the most important steps in issuing or renewing a passport

DigiLocker already provides many government documents such as Aadhaar, PAN, driving licence, vehicle registration, and educational certificates.

The inclusion of PVR strengthens DigiLocker’s role as a complete digital document wallet for citizens.

Access Available on Web and Mobile Versions

According to the announcement, users can view their PVR through the web version of DigiLocker, accessible from both mobile devices and computers.
The PVR is a digitally issued document, which means:

It cannot be tampered with

It can be shared securely with authorised organisations

This is especially helpful for people who need verification details for jobs, visa processing, police verification, and other official procedures.

Early Issues Reported by Some Users

The government says the feature supports a paperless system and reduces administrative delays.
However, some users on X have reported issues such as:

Errors in personal details

Delay in retrieving the PVR

It is expected that the system is still being stabilised and will improve gradually.
