Google has updated how much free access users get to Gemini 3 Pro and the Nano Banana Pro image model after a surge in usage since launch.
Free-tier users who previously had fixed daily limits now see variable caps that may change frequently depending on system load.
This comes just days after the Gemini 3 rollout, when free users could run up to five Thinking prompts per day and generate three images using Nano Banana Pro.
These numbers have now been scaled back to handle high demand.
What’s Changing for Free Users
Gemini 3 Pro: Free users now receive Basic access, without a fixed number of daily prompts.
Limits may fluctuate depending on how busy the system is, replacing the earlier 5-prompts-per-day limit.
Nano Banana Pro (Image Model): Free users can now generate only two images per day, as Google reports that image generation is currently in high demand.
Limits may reset daily.
NotebookLM: Free access to Infographics and Slide Decks has been temporarily removed.
Even Pro subscribers face restrictions until system capacity is expanded.
Google explained, “Due to overwhelming demand, we’re experiencing some capacity constraints… however we plan on bringing everything back to normal as soon as we can.”
Paid Users Remain Unaffected
Users on Google AI Pro and Ultra plans are not affected.
Their usage limits for Gemini 3 Pro remain unchanged, allowing them to continue running prompts and generating images without restrictions.
