DA Increased for 5th, 6th, and 7th Pay Commission Employees

The central government has announced an increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees and pensioners under the 5th and 6th Pay Commissions.

This decision, made just before Diwali, has brought happiness to employees and pensioners.

Last week, the government also increased DA for those under the 7th Pay Commission, according to the Finance Ministry.

Increase under 5th and 6th Pay Commissions

5th Pay Commission:
For employees receiving salaries under the 5th Pay Commission, the DA has increased from 466% to 474%, giving an 8% hike.

This revised rate is effective from July 1, 2025. Although the 5th Pay Commission ended in December 2005, some employees and pensioners still receive salaries based on this scale.

6th Pay Commission:
Employees under the 6th Pay Commission will see their DA rise from 252% to 257%, which is a 5% increase, also effective from July 1, 2025.

The 6th Pay Commission concluded in 2015, after which the 7th Pay Commission was implemented.

Recent Hike under 7th Pay Commission

A few days ago, the government increased DA by 3% for employees covered under the 7th Pay Commission.

The central government reviews DA twice a year, in January and July, to help employees and pensioners cope with rising inflation.
