Indian Railways has launched a new scheme called the “Round Trip Package” to help reduce crowding during the festive season and improve passenger convenience.
This is an experimental scheme that offers a discount of up to 20% on return tickets if passengers book both their onward and return journeys together.
The scheme will be available from October 13, 2025, to December 1, 2025.
According to railway officials, only passengers who book both tickets (to and from) together with the same passenger name on both tickets will be eligible for the discount.
Key Details of the Scheme
Booking Period for Onward Journey: October 13 to October 26, 2025
Booking Period for Return Journey: November 17 to December 1, 2025
Discount: Up to 20% on the return ticket
Ticket Type: Only confirmed tickets are eligible
Booking Method: Both tickets must be booked together, through the same platform (either online or offline)
Ticket Class: Both tickets must be in the same class
Name Requirement: Passenger name must be the same on both tickets
No Changes or Refunds: Once booked, tickets cannot be changed or refunded
No Other Discounts: This offer cannot be combined with any other discount or scheme
Available For: All trains and classes nationwide
A Step Towards Better Travel Experience
This scheme is especially useful for people travelling home during festivals, as it makes planning return journeys easier and cheaper.
It also helps the Railways manage train occupancy better in both directions.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Kuldeep Tiwari mentioned that the initiative will reduce issues related to one-way bookings during festive seasons and improve the overall travel experience.
Based on passenger feedback, the Railways may consider continuing or expanding this scheme in the future.
