Registered Speed Post to Replace Registered Post

The Postal Department has officially announced on 18 August that it will discontinue the Registered Post service and replace it with a new service.

According to the notification, registration will now be available only as a value-added service for Speed Post items and will provide recipient-specific delivery.

Registered Speed Post to Begin from October 1

From October 1, the Post Office will launch Registered Speed Post. This new service will ensure faster delivery using modern technology and air transport.

Earlier, Registered Post was mainly used for sending important documents like court summons, legal notices, and divorce papers.

Now, the same facility will be provided through Registered Speed Post, with the same legal validity as before.

Why This Change?

and rail earlier used to take more time, but now combining it with Speed Post will allow letters to be delivered by airplanes, making the service faster and more reliable.

Digital Transformation in Postal Services

The Postal Department is also modernizing itself with technology. Postmen now have smartphones with the Postman Mobile App (PMA), which allows them to record delivery details and send instant messages to recipients.

So far, 1.8 lakh postal employees have been provided with smartphones, while 21,000 employees are using their own devices.

This digital shift will further improve efficiency and customer experience in postal services.
