In this process, Railways has now changed the reservation chart rules too. As per the new rule, passengers will now get to know a day in advance whether their waitlisted ticket is confirmed or not.

When Will the Reservation Chart Be Prepared?

As per the Railway Board’s new instructions, the reservation chart timings will now depend on the train’s departure time:

1. Trains departing between 5:00 AM and 2:00 PM
The first reservation chart for these trains will now be prepared by 9:00 PM on the previous night.

2. Trains departing between 2:00 PM and 11:59 PM, and 12:00 midnight to 5:00 AM
Their first chart will be ready at least 8 hours before the train’s departure time.

3. Second Reservation Chart
There is no change in the rules for the second chart. It will be prepared as per existing rules to promote more current bookings.

The new instructions will also apply to remote locations where charts are prepared.

What Are the Benefits for Passengers?

Now, passengers will know their final ticket status earlier, which is a big help for those with waiting list or RAC tickets.

This will help them plan their travel better and allow more seats to be available under current booking.

Passengers traveling late at night will also be able to prepare properly in advance since the chart will be made earlier. Seat allotment will also improve, reducing last-minute confusion and discomfort.

Why Did Railways Change These Rules?

Railways has made this change to provide a better travel experience, make full use of available seats, and ensure timely chart preparation under the digital system.

It will also help increase revenue from current bookings and passengers will know their ticket status before the journey begins.
