Vi Voice Only Plans have arrived in India with four new prepaid recharge options starting at Rs 179.
Vodafone Idea (Vi) has introduced these plans for customers who mainly use their mobile phones for calling and SMS and do not want to pay for bundled internet data.
The new recharge options cost Rs 179, Rs 189, Rs 203 and Rs 206. All four plans offer unlimited voice calling and 300 SMS, with validity ranging from 25 days to one month.
The launch follows the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) directions requiring telecom operators to provide dedicated voice-and-SMS-only prepaid vouchers.
These options are particularly relevant for feature-phone users and customers who use mobile internet less frequently.
Vi Voice Only Plans: Price and Validity
Vi has introduced four recharge options with different validity periods. Customers can select a plan according to their monthly calling and messaging requirements.
Here is a look at the four new plans:
Rs 179 plan: This is the most affordable option, offering unlimited voice calls and 300 SMS with 25 days of validity. It also includes access to the Vi Movies and TV app.
Rs 189 plan: This recharge provides unlimited calling and 300 SMS for 28 days. It does not include the Vi Movies and TV app benefit.
Rs 203 plan: Customers choosing this option get unlimited voice calls and 300 SMS with 30 days of validity.
Rs 206 plan: This plan offers unlimited calling and 300 SMS with one-month calendar validity.
The four plans do not include a bundled mobile data allowance.
Customers who need internet connectivity will have to consider a separate data recharge or another suitable prepaid option.
Why Has Vi Introduced These New Recharge Plans?
The new plans have been introduced following TRAI’s revised consumer protection regulations.
In its September 21, 2026 notification, the telecom regulator directed operators to offer separate Special Tariff Vouchers (STVs) for voice calls and SMS without bundled data.
The objective is to give customers more affordable recharge choices, particularly those who do not need internet services.
TRAI has highlighted the needs of low-income consumers, rural subscribers and feature-phone users who may prefer shorter-validity recharge options instead of paying for longer-duration packs.
The revised rules also provide for monthly renewal on the same date, with the last day of the month used when the corresponding date is unavailable.
Should You Choose Vi’s Voice-Only Recharge Plans?
Vi Voice Only Plans could be useful for customers who primarily use their phones for regular calls and text messages. They can avoid paying for a bundled data allowance that they may not use.
The Rs 179 recharge is the cheapest among the four options, while the Rs 189 plan provides three additional days of validity.
Customers looking for a full 30-day validity can consider the Rs 203 option, whereas the Rs 206 plan follows a calendar-month validity cycle.
Before recharging, customers should check the applicable benefits and validity for their telecom circle through Vi’s official website or mobile application.
