WhatsApp is quickly adding new features for its millions of users. One of the latest features is called “Like Reaction – Status Updates.”
This new feature allows users to react to status updates with a heart emoji. WABetaInfo, a source for WhatsApp news, shared details about this update.
In addition to this, WhatsApp is also working on a powerful update to manage messages from unknown accounts.
Heart Emoji Reactions for Status Updates
WABetaInfo posted a screenshot showing how the new like reaction feature works. In the screenshot, you can see a heart emoji next to the reply bar that you can use to react to a status update.
When someone reacts with the heart emoji, the person who posted the status will receive a notification. They can also see who liked their status in the usual viewer list.
According to WABetaInfo, this reaction feature is protected by end-to-end encryption.
Currently, it’s available in WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.17.21. After testing, WhatsApp plans to release this feature globally.
Blocking Messages from Unknown Accounts
Another new feature in WhatsApp’s list is the ability to block messages from unknown accounts.
The company is currently developing this feature. WABetaInfo shared a screenshot on X (formerly Twitter), showing how it will work.
The screenshot shows an option to block messages from unknown accounts.
Once this feature is enabled, messages from unknown WhatsApp accounts will be automatically blocked after they send a certain number of messages.
This can be very useful in stopping spam messages. This feature was seen in WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.24.17.24 on the Google Play Store.
It’s still in development, but WhatsApp plans to release the stable update soon.
