How to Avail Travel Insurance
To benefit from IRCTC’s travel insurance, you must select the insurance option when booking your ticket.
During the booking process on IRCTC’s website, you’ll see the ‘Travel Insurance’ option on the front window.
By clicking on this option and filling in the necessary details, you get registered for the insurance, which covers any losses due to train accidents.
Note that this insurance is not available for tickets purchased at the counter or for those traveling in the general compartment.
Compensation Details
Under the Railway Travel Insurance scheme, compensation is provided as follows:
Death or Permanent Disability: Up to Rs 10 lakh.
Partial Disability: Up to Rs 7.5 lakh.
Serious Injury: Up to Rs 2 lakh.
Minor Injury: Up to Rs 10,000.
This insurance ensures that in the unfortunate event of an accident, financial assistance is available to the affected passengers or their families.
How to Claim the Insurance
Only Indian citizens are eligible for this travel insurance. Claims must be made within four months of the train accident.
