YouTube updates Monetization Rules from July 15, 2025

YouTube is updating its monetization rules under the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), effective July 15, 2025.

These new rules will be stricter, especially for creators who upload repetitive or AI-generated content. If your videos fall into this category, your ad revenue may be reduced.

The goal is to limit earnings from mass-produced, low-effort, or inauthentic videos, and reward creators who produce genuine and high-quality content.

Why Is YouTube Making This Change?

YouTube is facing a rise in spammy, AI-generated videos, many of which only include AI voiceovers on static images or random clips.

These types of content are often low-quality and undermine real creators who put in effort and originality.

By tightening the rules, YouTube wants to support authentic creators and reduce the spread of repetitive or meaningless content.

Key Highlights of the New Rules

Ad revenue will drop for videos that are AI-generated or repetitive.

Original and authentic content will now be prioritized.

Meeting the basic requirements like 1,000 subscribers, 4,000 hours watch time, or 10 million Shorts views in 90 days won’t be enough—your content must also be unique and high-quality.

Who Will Be Affected?

Channels that:

Use AI to produce videos in bulk

Add voiceovers to simple images or clips

Present unchanged information from the internet
may either lose monetization or see a significant drop in earnings.

YouTube’s Official Statement

YouTube said,

“This is a small but important update aimed at promoting original and quality content. We want YouTube to remain a platform where creativity and hard work are recognized.”
