The Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) is a government-backed savings scheme for private sector employees.
Every month, employees contribute 12% of their basic salary to their PF account, while employers contribute an equal amount.
Out of the employer’s share, 8.33% goes to the Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS).
If you’ve left your job or retired, you can withdraw your PF balance online without visiting an EPFO office.
The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) allows eligible members to complete the entire process from home through its online portal or the UMANG app.
Who Can Withdraw Their Full PF Balance?
EPFO allows full PF withdrawal only after an employee leaves their job or retires.
After leaving a job:
You can withdraw 75% of your PF balance immediately.
The remaining 25% can be withdrawn after two months, provided you remain unemployed.
To submit an online claim, you must meet these conditions:
Your UAN must be active.
Aadhaar, PAN, and bank account should be linked and verified.
Your mobile number must be linked to Aadhaar.
Your exit date should be updated in EPFO records.
You must have been unemployed for at least two months to withdraw 100% of your PF balance.
How to Withdraw PF Online Through the EPFO Portal
Follow these simple steps to submit your PF withdrawal claim online:
Log in to the EPFO UAN Member Portal using your UAN and password.
Go to Manage > KYC and verify that your Aadhaar, PAN, and bank details are approved.
Click on Online Services and select Claim (Form-31, 19, 10C & 10D).
Verify your bank account details and click Verify.
Accept the declaration by clicking Yes on the Certificate of Undertaking.
Click Proceed for Online Claim.
Select Form 19 for full PF settlement.
Tick the declaration box, enter the OTP sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile number, and submit the claim.
After submitting the application, you can track your claim status online.
How to Withdraw PF Using the UMANG App
You can also withdraw your PF balance through the UMANG app by following these steps:
Open the UMANG app and log in with your registered mobile number.
Search for and open EPFO services.
Select Raise Claim under Employee-Centric Services.
Enter your UAN and verify it using the OTP sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
Choose Full PF Settlement under Withdrawal Claim.
Verify your bank account details linked to your UAN.
Upload the required documents, if asked.
Submit your claim request.
Save the claim reference number to track the status later.
Things to Remember Before Applying
Before submitting your claim, make sure all your KYC details are updated and verified. Incorrect bank details, an inactive UAN, or an unupdated exit date can delay your PF settlement.
If all the required details are correct, the online process is simple and allows eligible members to withdraw their PF balance without visiting an EPFO office.
