Indian Railways has issued an important clarification for passengers using digital unreserved train tickets.

From now on, WhatsApp screenshots, forwarded ticket images, photos, and PDF copies of digital tickets will not be accepted as valid proof of travel.

Passengers must show the original digital ticket on the registered mobile phone through the official RailOne app during ticket checking.

What Has Changed for Digital Ticket Users?

Indian Railways has made it clear that only the original digital unreserved ticket generated through the authorised railway platform will be accepted.

The following will no longer be considered valid tickets:

WhatsApp-forwarded ticket images

Screenshots of digital tickets

Photographs of tickets

PDF copies shared or saved separately

This rule applies to digital unreserved tickets booked through the official RailOne app.

Why Did Indian Railways Introduce This Rule?

The main reason behind this change is to prevent ticket misuse and fraud.

Screenshots and forwarded images can easily be copied, edited, or shared with multiple people.

This makes it difficult for ticket checking staff to confirm whether the ticket belongs to the actual passenger.

By checking the original ticket inside the official app, railway authorities can verify the authenticity of the ticket and link it to the correct passenger.

What Should Passengers Carry During Travel?

Passengers travelling with digital unreserved tickets should keep the following ready:

The original digital ticket on the same registered mobile phone used for booking

A valid government-issued photo identity card, if required during inspection

If a passenger fails to show the original digital ticket, they may be treated as travelling without a valid ticket and could face penalties.

Who Will Be Affected by This Rule?

This clarification mainly affects passengers using digital unreserved tickets booked through the RailOne app.

Passengers with reserved tickets booked through other official railway platforms will continue to follow the existing ticket verification process.

Important Advice for Train Passengers

Indian Railways has advised passengers not to depend on screenshots, forwarded messages, or saved copies of digital tickets.

Using the official railway app and keeping the original ticket available on the registered device will help passengers avoid problems during travel.

The new rule aims to make ticket checking more secure, reduce fraud, and ensure a smoother travel experience for genuine passengers.
