UPI Circle is a feature that allows two people to make UPI payments using the same bank account. This is especially useful for those who rely on others for payments.
For example, a father can authorize his child or a senior citizen to make transactions on his behalf.
This feature benefits family members who do not have their own bank accounts but still need to make payments.
How Does UPI Circle Work?
UPI Circle gives the primary user the authority to delegate payment rights to a secondary user. There are two types of delegation: full and partial.
Full Delegation:
The primary user grants the secondary user the authority to initiate and complete transactions within a specified spending limit.
A maximum of ₹15,000 can be delegated, with a limit of ₹5,000 per transaction.
The secondary user cannot exceed these limits when making payments.
Partial Delegation:
The secondary user can initiate a transaction, but the primary user must authenticate and finalize it using their UPI PIN.
This method adds an extra layer of security since the primary user retains control over the final approval.
How to Authorize a Secondary User?
The primary user can authorize a secondary user by either scanning a unique QR code or entering the secondary user’s UPI ID.
The secondary user will have a separate password and biometric authentication to secure access.
The primary user must select the secondary user’s name from their contact list to connect accounts; manual entry of phone numbers is not allowed for security reasons.
Limit on Secondary Users
A primary user can authorize up to five secondary users for payments. However, each secondary user can only receive delegation from one primary user. This ensures clear control and security over transactions.
Additional Features and Benefits
Partial Payment Option: You can choose to enable a “partial payment” setting, requiring your UPI PIN to complete a transaction. This provides extra security, as payments will only be finalized with your approval.
Benefits of UPI Circle:
Allows family members to make payments from a single bank account while residing in different cities.
You can set different payment limits for each member added to the UPI Circle.
Auto-payments are not allowed, providing more control over spending.
UPI Circle offers a flexible and secure way for families to manage payments even if some members don’t have their own bank accounts.
