Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the deadline for free online Aadhaar document updates.

If your Aadhaar card is 10 years old and has not been updated, you now have time until June 14, 2026 to update it for free online.

After this date, a fee of ₹50 will apply at Aadhaar centres.

Why Updating Aadhaar Is Important

The free update facility is available only on the myAadhaar portal.

Residents can update key documents like:

PAN card

Voter ID

Address proof

Keeping Aadhaar details accurate helps avoid issues in everyday services.

It ensures smooth access to:

Government subsidies and schemes

Bank KYC verification

SIM card and identity checks

Aadhaar for Children: What Parents Should Know

UIDAI also provides Aadhaar for children under 5 years, called Baal Aadhaar.

It is often required for school admission and other identification needs.

The process is simple and requires fewer documents.

Documents Needed for Baal Aadhaar

To apply for a child’s Aadhaar card, you will need:

Birth certificate or hospital discharge slip

Aadhaar card of one parent (mandatory)

Proof of address

The child’s Aadhaar is linked to the parent’s Aadhaar for verification.

Final Take

This extension gives Aadhaar holders a valuable chance to update their details without paying any fee.

Completing the update on time can help avoid future issues with banking, government services, and identity verification.

For parents, getting a Baal Aadhaar ensures children are also ready for essential documentation needs early on.
