Managing Aadhaar details for family members could become much easier.
The UIDAI has introduced a feature that allows users to manage up to five Aadhaar profiles on a single mobile phone.
This can be especially helpful for people who regularly handle Aadhaar-related work for their children, elderly parents or other family members.
Instead of carrying several physical Aadhaar cards, users can keep multiple profiles together in the Aadhaar app.
What Was the Problem Earlier?
Earlier, family members had to carry their individual Aadhaar cards whenever they needed to show their identity details.
Keeping several cards also increased the chances of them being lost or damaged.
It could also take more time when Aadhaar details of different family members were required, as each card had to be handled separately.
The new feature aims to make this process more convenient.
One Phone Can Store Up to 5 Aadhaar Profiles
With the new facility, users can add between one and five Aadhaar profiles to a single phone.
This means a person managing Aadhaar-related work for a family can keep the profiles of different members in one place.
It can also reduce the need to carry multiple physical Aadhaar cards everywhere.
The feature may be particularly useful for parents managing Aadhaar services for children or people helping elderly family members with their documents.
How to Add an Aadhaar Profile
Adding a family member’s Aadhaar profile can be done through the official Aadhaar app.
Follow these steps:
Download and open the official Aadhaar app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
Set up a 6-digit security PIN.
Go to the app’s dashboard or home screen and select “Add Profile.”
Enter the person’s 12-digit Aadhaar number or scan the Aadhaar QR code.
Complete the required verification using the OTP sent to the mobile number registered with Aadhaar or through Face Authentication, where available.
Once verification is completed, the Aadhaar profile will be added to the phone.
You can repeat the process to add other family members, up to the permitted limit of five profiles.
