Truecaller Scam Checker has been launched as a new web and Android service that allows users to check suspicious phone numbers, links and messages.
The service is initially available in India and is designed to extend scam protection beyond traditional caller identification.
The tool does not require an app installation or account sign-in for basic checks on the web.
Users can submit suspicious information and see relevant scam signals and reports from Truecaller’s community.

Truecaller Scam Checker allows users to look up a phone number and check a suspicious web link for potential risks.
For links, the system can expand shortened URLs and follow redirects before checking the destination against Truecaller’s risk database and other fraud signals.
Users can also paste a suspicious message. The service can identify a phone number or link within the message and provide related information from Truecaller’s community reports.
Scam Reports Add Another Layer of Information
The service connects its checks with ScamFeed, Truecaller’s community-based source of scam reports.
Users can search for reports related to numbers, links and other scam attempts to understand whether similar incidents have been reported.
Truecaller said the new service brings together three common elements of suspicious messages: a phone number, a link and the story or message surrounding them.
More detailed information about a phone number, including the name associated with it, continues to require access through Truecaller’s existing service and sign-in.
Truecaller Scam Checker Starts in India
The service is available globally through the Truecaller website, while the Android app launch starts in India.
The company plans to expand availability to additional regions, including Latin America, the Middle East, Africa and Southeast Asia.
Truecaller also plans to add broader scam detection capabilities and screenshot uploads for further analysis. Additional features, including user authentication, are planned for future versions of the service.
The launch comes as online scams increasingly involve messages, links and other digital channels rather than only conventional phone calls.
Truecaller’s move therefore places its scam-detection tools closer to the point where users may first encounter suspicious content.
