EPFO pensioners need to submit a Jeevan Pramaan Patra, or digital life certificate, every year to continue receiving their pension.
The good news is that pensioners do not necessarily have to visit a pension office or bank for this process.
The certificate can be submitted digitally from home using face authentication on a mobile phone.
What Is Jeevan Pramaan?
Jeevan Pramaan is a digital life certificate used to confirm that a pensioner is alive.
The certificate is generated using Aadhaar-based authentication.
Once the pensioner’s identity is successfully verified, the digital certificate is created online.
The pension disbursing agency can access the certificate electronically.
This reduces the need to visit an office and submit a physical document every year.
How to Submit the Life Certificate From Home
Before starting the process, pensioners should check whether their Aadhaar is linked to the records of the pension-granting agency.
The next step is to install the Jeevan Pramaan Face App and AadhaarFaceRD app on a compatible smartphone.
The face authentication process uses the phone’s camera to verify the pensioner’s identity.
A separate fingerprint scanner is not required.
Complete Face Authentication Using Your Phone
Open the Jeevan Pramaan Face App and enter the required pensioner’s details.
Depending on the process, you may need information such as your Aadhaar number, PPO number, bank account number and mobile number.
The app will then ask you to scan your face using the phone’s camera.
Once the face authentication is successfully completed, the digital life certificate is generated.
This allows pensioners to complete the process without making an unnecessary office visit.
What Happens After the Certificate Is Generated?
After successful submission, the pensioner receives an SMS containing the Pramaan ID or transaction details on the registered mobile number.
These details can be used to access or download the digital life certificate.
The pension disbursing agency can also view the certificate online, so submitting a physical copy is generally not required.
Check Your PPO Number Carefully
Pensioners should be particularly careful while entering their PPO number.
An incorrect PPO number can cause problems during verification and may prevent the process from being completed successfully.
If a pensioner has more than one PPO, a separate process may be required for each one.
Before starting the authentication process, make sure your Aadhaar, PPO and bank details are correct to avoid unnecessary delays.
