1. Contact Customer Service:

Upon realizing an incorrect UPI payment, the first step is to promptly contact the customer service center of your bank or the UPI service provider.

2. Lodge a Complaint on NPCI Portal:

If assistance is not readily available from customer service, you can lodge a complaint on the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) portal. Follow these steps:

Visit the official NPCI website.

Fill in the required information, including your name and email ID.

Select the “Dispute Redressal Mechanism” option.

Provide transaction details, including UPI transaction ID, virtual payment address, amount transferred, date of transaction, email ID, and mobile number.

Specify the reason for the complaint as “Incorrectly transferred to another account” and submit the form.

3. Timely Complaint:

It’s crucial to file a complaint immediately after discovering the erroneous transaction, preferably within three days. Delayed complaints may diminish the chances of successful fund retrieval.
