SBI bank strike alert has been issued ahead of the three-day nationwide strike called by the United Forum of Bank Unions from September 28 to 30, 2026.
SBI has advised customers to complete important branch-related banking work in advance to avoid possible disruption.
The proposed strike follows the weekend of September 26 and 27. Since September 26 is the fourth Saturday and September 27 is Sunday, customers could face a longer interruption in branch services around the strike period.
SBI Bank Strike Alert for Customers
SBI has asked customers to plan important banking transactions before the strike dates. Branch-dependent services may be affected if employees participate in the nationwide strike.
Customers who need services such as document processing or other work requiring a branch visit should avoid waiting until the last moment. SBI has also advised customers to use alternative banking channels during the disruption.
Complete Important Banking Work Early
Customers with pending banking work should consider completing it before the strike period. This can include transactions or documentation that require assistance at a physical branch.
SBI has specifically encouraged customers to use digital banking facilities where possible. The bank has also pointed customers towards ATMs, Automated Deposit and Withdrawal Machines, Customer Service Points and digital channels for essential services.
Digital Banking Services During Strike
The strike is expected to affect branch operations, while several digital and alternative banking services are expected to remain available. Customers can use UPI, internet banking, mobile banking and the YONO app for eligible transactions.
Cash requirements can also be planned through ATMs and other available self-service channels. However, customers should check the availability of specific services before relying on them during the strike period.
Why Bank Unions Called the Strike
The United Forum of Bank Unions has announced the September 28–30 strike as part of its campaign around several employee-related demands.
Five-day banking is among the key issues being raised by the unions, along with other pending matters concerning employees and retirees.
The UFBU has also announced a further indefinite strike from October 26, 2026, if the issues remain unresolved. This is a separate future action and its implementation depends on the developments before that date.
