Reliance Jio Warns Customers About Potential Scams

Telecom operator Reliance Jio has issued a warning to its customers about potential scams.

The company advises users to be cautious of calls and messages from the +92 code, which could be a sign of fraudulent activity.

With scams becoming increasingly common, Jio warns that falling for these scams could result in significant financial losses.

Details of the Warning

In a recent SMS, Reliance Jio cautioned: “Beware of calls or messages pretending to be police officers using the +92 code or other sources.

To report cyber crimes, call 1930 or visit cybercrime.gov.in.”

Fraudsters often impersonate police officers to trick people into sharing personal information or making payments.

Recently, the CBI also warned about a rise in fraudulent activities where criminals pretend to be CBI officers to deceive people.

Tips to Avoid Fraud

To protect yourself from fraud, consider these precautions:

Verify Claims: If you receive a call from someone claiming to be a police officer, ask for their badge number, department name, and contact number.

Verify this information through official channels.

Protect Sensitive Information: Do not share sensitive information like Social Security numbers, bank account details, or credit card information over the phone, especially if you did not make the call.

Beware of Pressure Tactics: Genuine police officers will not pressure you to make immediate payments or decisions. A request for immediate payment is a red flag.

Verify Suspicious Calls: If you are unsure about a call, hang up and contact your local police department directly to confirm the legitimacy of the call.
