To protect yourself from fraud, consider these precautions:

Verify Claims: If you receive a call from someone claiming to be a police officer, ask for their badge number, department name, and contact number.

Verify this information through official channels.

Protect Sensitive Information: Do not share sensitive information like Social Security numbers, bank account details, or credit card information over the phone, especially if you did not make the call.

Beware of Pressure Tactics: Genuine police officers will not pressure you to make immediate payments or decisions. A request for immediate payment is a red flag.

Verify Suspicious Calls: If you are unsure about a call, hang up and contact your local police department directly to confirm the legitimacy of the call.
