Due to an active western disturbance and cyclonic circulation, light to moderate rain and hailstorms are expected in 12 states, including Uttar Pradesh.
Meanwhile, Delhi-NCR is witnessing rising temperatures, marking the onset of warmer days.
Weather Changes in Different Regions
In parts of western and southern India, temperatures have crossed 40°C, though no heatwave warnings have been issued.
According to the Meteorological Department, the western disturbance remains active in the lower and middle levels, while a cyclonic circulation over southwest Rajasthan is influencing the weather.
As a result, Uttar Pradesh will experience rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds until March 22.
A similar weather system over southwest Madhya Pradesh and nearby regions is bringing light to moderate rainfall, along with thunder and lightning.
Eastern Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh will also see rainfall and thunderstorms in the coming days.
Delhi-NCR Heats Up, Hailstorms Expected in Some States
Delhi-NCR is experiencing rising temperatures, with both day and night temperatures increasing.
The region will remain dry for the next week, and the maximum temperature may reach 38°C, which is higher than the usual 31.5°C for this time of year.
Hailstorms are likely in several regions:
On March 22 and 23, hail may occur in eastern Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Jharkhand, and Odisha.
On March 22, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, the Gangetic plains of West Bengal, and Bihar may also see hailstorms.
Stormy Winds in the South and Rain in the Northeast
Due to cyclonic circulation over Chhattisgarh, strong winds are affecting northern interior Karnataka.
From March 22 to 24, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, coastal Karnataka, northern interior Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam,
and Rayalaseema will experience light to moderate rain with strong winds. Kerala, South Interior Karnataka,
and Telangana will also see light rain and thunderstorms over the next five days, with hailstorms possible in parts of Telangana.
The Northeast will continue to receive rainfall. Arunachal Pradesh may witness rain and snowfall between March 21 and 23, with some areas expecting heavy snowfall.
Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, and Tripura will experience light to moderate rain with thunderstorms over the next four to five days.
No Heatwave Warnings for Now
Despite rising temperatures in several parts of India, heatwaves are not expected in the immediate future.
Maximum temperatures between 38°C and 41°C have been recorded in Maharashtra, Gujarat, interior Odisha, Telangana, Rayalaseema,
and northern interior Karnataka. While some areas faced heatwaves in mid-March, relief from extreme heat is expected for now.
