If you use the Paytm app regularly for UPI payments, mobile recharges, or bill payments, there is no need to worry.

The closure process of Paytm Payments Bank (PPBL) has started after the Delhi High Court’s order, but this does not mean the Paytm app will stop working.

Most of Paytm’s popular digital payment services will continue as usual.

Users will still be able to make daily transactions without major changes.

Paytm App Services Will Continue, Only Banking Services Will Stop

Over the years, Paytm and Paytm Payments Bank have operated as separate parts of the larger Paytm ecosystem.

Because of this, the bank’s closure will mainly affect banking-related services and not regular app features.

Users can continue using Paytm for UPI payments linked to other bank accounts, QR code payments, mobile recharges, electricity and water bill payments, and other digital payment services.

Services like Paytm Soundbox, card machines, payment gateways, Paytm Gold, and Paytm Money will also continue without any impact.

What Will Happen to Money Deposited in Paytm Payments Bank?

Customers who still have money deposited in Paytm Payments Bank do not need to panic.

Customer funds are considered safe and will be returned according to the bank’s official process.

People who have not yet received their money should keep important documents such as bank statements, account details, and KYC records safely.

They should also keep checking official updates from the RBI and the liquidator regarding claim procedures and deadlines.

UPI Users May Need to Check Their Linked Bank Account

For users whose UPI is connected to another bank account, there will be no impact.

They can continue making payments through Paytm as before.

However, users who still have their UPI linked to an old or inactive Paytm Payments Bank account should update their UPI settings and connect it with another active bank account.

Customers with old Paytm Payments Bank-linked FASTags or wallets who have pending claims will also get their issues resolved through the settlement process.

Why Was Paytm Payments Bank Closed?

Paytm Payments Bank had been facing regulatory restrictions for several years.

In March 2022, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) stopped the bank from adding new customers.

Later, in 2024, restrictions were placed on accepting new deposits and providing several banking services.

Finally, in April 2026, the bank’s license was revoked, leading to the start of the official closure process.

The appointed liquidator will now handle the bank’s assets, settle liabilities, and manage customer claims during the closure process.

Will Paytm Investors Be Affected?

Paytm Payments Bank is not a listed company, meaning its closure will not directly impact regular stock market investors.

Paytm’s parent company, One97 Communications, had already reduced the value of its investment in the bank.

Because of this, experts believe the chances of any major additional impact on investors are limited.

For millions of Paytm users, the key point is that the Paytm app will continue working.

Only banking services linked to Paytm Payments Bank will be affected.
