Getting a passport could soon become easier for people living in Gautam Buddha Nagar and nearby districts.
Preparations are underway to set up a passport office and training centre in the YEIDA area.
The Ministry of External Affairs had asked the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) to provide land for the project.
YEIDA has now agreed to provide land for the proposed facility in Sector 9.
If the project moves ahead as planned, residents may no longer need to travel to Ghaziabad for passport-related work.
9,310 Square Metres of Land Proposed in Sector 9
According to YEIDA officials, a proposal was received for providing land for the Central Passport Organization Training Institute.
YEIDA has agreed to allot a plot measuring around 9,310 square metres, or roughly two acres, in Sector 9.
YEIDA ACEO Shailendra Bhatia said a letter has been sent to the Ministry of External Affairs confirming the availability of the land.
What Will Change for Passport Applicants?
At present, residents of Gautam Buddha Nagar generally have to visit the passport office in Ghaziabad for passport-related services.
The proposed facility in the YEIDA area could make the process much more convenient for residents of Gautam Buddha Nagar and surrounding districts.
The location is also becoming increasingly important because of its connectivity to the Noida International Airport and major expressways.
Several central government departments are reportedly showing interest in setting up offices in the YEIDA region.
Land Allotment Process to Begin After Ministry’s Next Step
YEIDA has also shared details with the Ministry of External Affairs regarding the land allotment rate and the required process.
The next step will depend on the ministry.
Once it moves forward with the proposal, YEIDA will begin the formal land allotment process.
For local residents, the proposed passport office could be a major convenience, especially by reducing the need to travel to Ghaziabad for passport services.
