If your PF money is stuck in an old or inactive EPF account, there may soon be good news for you.

The government is preparing to launch a new portal called E-PRAAPTI, which will help crores of EPFO members track and recover money lying in old inoperative accounts.

This portal is expected to become especially useful for people who changed jobs years ago and could not withdraw their PF balance because of missing records or old account details.

What is the E-PRAAPTI Portal?

The new portal was recently announced by Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.

E-PRAAPTI stands for:
Employee Provident Fund Aadhaar-Based Access Portal for Tracking Inoperative Accounts.

The portal will help users find and access old inactive PF accounts using Aadhaar-based verification.

This is expected to provide major relief to people whose accounts were created before 2014 and who still do not have a UAN (Universal Account Number).

Biggest Benefit for People Without UAN

Many employees faced problems after changing jobs because their old PF records were not properly linked or updated.

In many cases:

Old companies shut down

Records became difficult to trace

Employees forgot their old PF member IDs

UAN was not available

Because of this, lakhs of people could not withdraw their hard-earned PF money for years.

The E-PRAAPTI portal is being designed to solve this issue and help members track old accounts more easily.

Aadhaar-Based Tracking to Reduce Paperwork

According to reports, the portal will initially work using old member IDs.

Later, it may also support users who do not remember their previous account details.

The Aadhaar-based system is expected to:

Reduce paperwork

Increase transparency

Make claim tracking easier

Reduce dependence on employers

This means users may no longer need to visit offices repeatedly to recover money from inactive PF accounts.

EPFO Settled Record 8.31 Crore Claims

EPFO has also seen major improvements in digital services over the last few years.

According to reports, EPFO processed a record 8.31 crore claims during FY 2025-26, compared to 6.01 crore claims in the previous year.

Out of these:

Around 5.51 crore claims were advance or partial withdrawal claims

More than 71% of advance claims were settled within just 3 days through auto-processing mode

Online Services Have Become Easier

EPFO members are now getting many services online without visiting offices.

People can now easily:

Update bank account details

Upload cheque images

Correct profile information

Track claims online

Reports also suggest that around 29.34 lakh members updated their profiles online without needing help from employers.

With the upcoming E-PRAAPTI portal, recovering old PF money may also become much simpler for millions of workers across the country.
