Millions of Rajasthan government employees, pensioners, and their families have received a major relief.
From today, July 13, 2026, the Rajasthan government has introduced new RGHS guidelines to make OPD testing faster and easier.
Under the new rules, patients will no longer have to wait for long approval processes for many routine medical tests. The aim is to reduce delays and help people receive timely treatment.
No Approval Needed for Tests Up to ₹2,000
Earlier, RGHS beneficiaries visiting empanelled private hospitals or diagnostic centres had to wait for pre-approval before getting OPD tests done.
Now, if the total cost of the doctor’s prescribed OPD tests is up to ₹2,000, no prior approval will be required. Patients can directly get the tests done without waiting for permission.
Faster Approval for Costly Tests
If the total cost of the tests is more than ₹2,000, the hospital must submit an online request through the RGHS portal.
To avoid unnecessary delays, the government has fixed strict approval timelines for the Third Party Administrator (TPA):
Emergency or urgent cases: Approval must be given within 1 hour.
General OPD cases: Approval must be given within 3 hours.
No response on time: If the TPA does not respond within the given time, the request will be automatically approved, and the hospital can immediately conduct the tests.
Emergency Treatment Will Not Be Delayed
For emergencies such as road accidents, heart attacks, or other critical conditions, hospitals do not need pre-approval before starting treatment.
Doctors can begin treatment and necessary investigations immediately. The required documents, including the doctor’s prescription, medical records,
and reasons for the tests, can be uploaded to the RGHS portal later by the hospital.
The Rajasthan government has instructed all empanelled private hospitals and diagnostic centres to follow these new rules.
The changes are expected to reduce waiting time and make treatment smoother for millions of RGHS beneficiaries across the state.
