The rules for getting a driving license in Bihar are changing. Starting March, taking the test on a testing track will be mandatory in all districts.
Currently, this rule is being followed in Patna and Aurangabad, where the tests are conducted under CCTV surveillance.
According to the Transport Department, testing tracks are being built in 36 districts of the state. Out of these, construction is nearly finished in 26 districts.
For the remaining 10 districts, the project is ongoing, and funds have been allocated to speed up the work. The goal is to complete construction by March.
Mandatory Testing for Driving Licenses
Once the testing tracks are ready, all applicants will have to pass a test on these tracks under CCTV surveillance.
This new system ensures that only those who know traffic rules and have good driving skills will receive a driving license.
This change is being introduced to bring transparency to the license-issuing process.
In a recent review, the department found that licenses were being issued in some districts without proper tests, often with the help of agents.
The introduction of testing tracks will eliminate such practices and improve road safety.
Progress in Construction of Testing Tracks
Testing tracks have already been completed in 26 districts, including:
Motihari, Purnia, Banka, Nawada, Bhagalpur, Kaimur, Darbhanga, Kishanganj, Nalanda, Sheohar, Samastipur, Jehanabad, Sitamarhi, Rohtas, Munger, Sheikhpura, Jamui, Bettiah, Buxar, Araria, Vaishali, Lakhisarai, Khagaria, Saran, Madhubani, and Madhepura.
This new system aims to improve both transparency and safety, reducing the chances of road accidents.
