Railway players and coaches participating in major professional leagues like the IPL (Indian Premier League), Pro Kabaddi League, and ISL (Indian Super League) will now have to follow stricter rules.
According to the new rules, players and coaches must complete two important formalities within seven days before they can participate in these leagues.
Important Deadlines for Players and Coaches
If a player or coach is selected in the auction of a professional league, they must inform their railway zone or sports association in writing within seven days.
In addition, they must obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) at least seven days before the start of any league match.
Earlier, many players informed the Railways only after the league ended or applied for NOCs after the matches had already started. Railway sports associations noticed this issue, and the Railway Board expressed serious displeasure over it.
The new order clearly states that if players fail to submit their applications within the given time, they will not be allowed to participate in the league matches.
Hundreds of Railway Athletes Will Be Affected
This new rule will directly affect hundreds of railway athletes who play professional sports while also working in the Railways.
Now, players will have to complete all paperwork on time along with managing their sports careers. If they fail to do so, they could lose major opportunities to play in professional leagues.
Railway Administration Will Benefit Too
The new system will also help the railway administration know in advance how many railway players are participating in outside leagues.
This will help maintain a better balance between work responsibilities and sports activities.
NCR Senior PRO Dr. Amit Malviya said that this rule has now been implemented.
