The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has launched its upgraded Unified Member Portal, called EPFO 2.01.

The new portal is designed to make PF-related services faster, simpler, and more user-friendly.

According to the Government of India, the platform has been developed under the CITES project to modernize the EPFO system.

Most PF-related tasks will now be handled automatically through a digital system, reducing delays and making services more efficient.

Although the new portal has gone live, all features are not available yet. EPFO says more services will be rolled out gradually over the coming days and weeks.

One National Database for All PF Members

One of the biggest changes in EPFO 2.01 is the creation of a single national database.

Earlier, every EPFO regional office maintained its own records.

Now, the data of around 34 crore PF members, which was previously spread across more than 120 regional systems, has been merged into one central database.

This means members can now access PF services from any EPFO office in India, regardless of where they were employed.

For example, if you worked in Chennai and later moved to West Bengal, you can now visit the EPFO office in West Bengal for your PF-related work instead of traveling back to Chennai.

Job Changes Become Much Easier

The new portal brings all important PF information together in one place.

Members can now easily check their:

PF balance

Claim status

Profile details

Pension records

Complete benefit information

The biggest relief is for employees who frequently change jobs.

If your PF account is linked with your Aadhaar, your PF balance will now be transferred automatically when you switch employers.

There will be no need to submit separate transfer forms or obtain approvals from your previous or current employer.

Faster Claim Processing and Easy UAN Recovery

EPFO 2.01 also speeds up the claim process.

Before your claim reaches an EPFO official, the system will automatically check it for missing information or errors.

If any issue is found, you will receive an SMS or portal notification so you can correct it quickly.

The portal will also tell you how much PF money you are eligible to withdraw for different purposes, helping members understand their withdrawal limits in advance.

Another useful feature is that if you have forgotten your Universal Account Number (UAN), you can now retrieve it in just two simple steps through the portal.

Some Services Have Shifted to the UMANG App

While the new portal adds many features, a few services have been moved to the UMANG app.

You can no longer activate your UAN directly through the EPFO Member Portal.

UAN activation will now be done through the UMANG app using Aadhaar-based Face Authentication.

Similarly, generating a new UAN is also available only through the UMANG app.

If you already have a PF account but don’t have a UAN, you can create and link it through the app.

More Features Coming Soon

EPFO says the upgraded portal is a major step towards a fully digital and automated PF system.

It is expected to make PF account management, withdrawals, transfers, and pension services much easier for over 34 crore members.

Since the rollout is being done in phases, some features may not work immediately.

EPFO has confirmed that the remaining services will be activated gradually over the next few days and weeks.
