Earlier this year, new rules for FASTag were introduced. Under these rules, if your FASTag remains blacklisted for 1 hour before it is scanned or 10 minutes after the scan, the toll payment won’t be processed.
To avoid blacklisting, it’s important to understand why this happens and take care to prevent it. Often, blacklisting occurs due to driver negligence.
Here are some tips to help you keep your FASTag in good standing.
1. Maintain Minimum Balance
To prevent your FASTag from being blacklisted, ensure there is always enough balance in your account. Keeping a sufficient balance in your FASTag wallet will help avoid blacklisting.
2. Monitor SMS Notifications
Pay attention to all SMS, messages, and notifications from the bank where your FASTag account is registered. These updates can alert you to any issues with your FASTag.
3. Regularly Check the MYFASTag App
Regularly check the app through which you manage your FASTag to track your balance and status. This will help you stay informed and avoid any problems.
4. Keep Your Mobile Number Updated
Ensure that the mobile number linked to your FASTag account is current. If your linked mobile number is no longer in use, it could cause issues with your FASTag and lead to blacklisting.
5. Correct Placement of FASTag
Ensure your FASTag is placed correctly on your vehicle’s windscreen. If it is not, the toll payment may not be processed, and you could face delays or need to pay manually.
6. Use Only One FASTag per Vehicle
A FASTag should only be used for one vehicle. Using the same FASTag for multiple vehicles can lead to it being blacklisted.
By following these tips, you can keep your FASTag active and avoid the inconvenience of blacklisting.
