Navi Mumbai Airport waives international landing fees for one year under a revised incentive plan approved by aviation tariff regulator AERA, as the new airport seeks to attract more international routes and airlines.

Under the revised Variable Tariff Plan, both short-haul and long-haul international passenger routes from Navi Mumbai International Airport will receive a 100% waiver on landing charges during the first year of operation.
The incentive applies to new international routes from Navi Mumbai Airport, even if the same destination is already served by airlines from Mumbai’s other airport.

After the first year, the landing charge concession will change. International routes will receive a 50% reduction in the second year, while long-haul services will get an additional 25% waiver in the third year.
For this plan, international routes covering up to 5,000 kilometres are classified as short-haul, while routes exceeding 5,000 kilometres are considered long-haul.
Additional international flight frequencies will also receive discounts. Short-haul services will get a 50% discount and long-haul services a 75% discount on landing charges during the first year.

International freighter services will receive a 90% waiver on landing charges during the first year. The discount will continue at 50% in the second year.
The revised framework is intended to encourage airlines to introduce and maintain international connectivity from Navi Mumbai, while increasing the use of the airport’s international infrastructure.

Earlier, the incentive eligibility was linked to routes that were new across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. This meant an airline could not receive the concession for launching a Navi Mumbai route if the same international route was already operating from Mumbai Airport.
The revised rule instead considers whether the route is new from Navi Mumbai Airport. This allows airlines to qualify for the landing-charge incentive even when the destination is already connected to Mumbai.
Navi Mumbai International Airport began commercial operations in December 2025, while international services started in July 2026 with a flight to Abu Dhabi. The revised incentive is aimed at expanding the airport’s international network and improving traffic utilisation.
