Maximizing Profit with Paddy Seed Subsidies

Paddy is the main crop cultivated during the Kharif season in Jharkhand, coinciding with the onset of monsoon.

To support farmers, the Agriculture Department of Jharkhand has initiated the distribution of paddy seeds with substantial subsidies.

Distribution of Subsidized Paddy Seeds

The Agriculture Department in Jharkhand has begun distributing paddy seeds to farmers across all districts.

These seeds, procured from the National Seed Corporation, are being offered at a 50% subsidy to encourage paddy cultivation.

The department has already procured 25,730 quintals of seeds and aims to distribute a total of 52,000 quintals this season.

Blockchain-enabled Seed Distribution

Approximately 1.5 million registered farmers in Jharkhand can access paddy seeds through a blockchain-based registration process. To participate, farmers need to register using their Aadhar card and mobile number.

Upon registration, farmers receive an OTP on their mobiles during seed purchase, ensuring secure distribution

and minimizing tampering risks. This blockchain system has been in place for several years to enhance transparency in seed distribution.

Subsidy and Quality Assurance

Paddy seeds are subsidized by the state government, costing farmers approximately 20 to 22 rupees per kg.

The procurement and quality testing of seeds are managed by agencies authorized by the National Seed Corporation.

Each seed lot undergoes rigorous testing; if samples fail, replacements are provided to farmers free of charge.
