Ravishankar Maharaj, a self-proclaimed godman, played a major role. His name in the FIR and photos with senior IAS, IPS, and political leaders reveal how religion and politics were misused for corruption.

Links to South India Too

Fake staff and patients were also arranged in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Institutes like Father Colombo Institute of Medical Sciences allegedly paid between Rs 3–5 crore to secure guaranteed approval.

Former Medical Board Member Involved

Jitu Lal Meena, a former member of the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB), acted as a key link in the bribery network. Some of the bribe money was even spent on building a temple in Rajasthan.

Legal Proceedings in Motion

The CBI has registered cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Only one person, Atul Tiwari, director of SRIMSR Raipur, has been arrested so far. The investigation is still ongoing.

This massive scam not only threatens public health but also deeply damages trust in the country’s medical education system.
