Indian travelers planning to visit Malaysia will be happy to know that the country has extended the visa-free entry period for Indian citizens until December 31, 2026.
This move is aimed at boosting tourism and economic development for India. Additionally, travelers must complete the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC).
These steps are designed to attract more visitors, promote economic growth, and prepare for Visit Malaysia 2026.
On December 20, 2024, Home Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Awang Alik Jeman announced that Malaysia is preparing for its ASEAN chairmanship in 2025.
The extension of visa-free entry for Indian citizens mirrors a similar policy for Chinese citizens.
Both Indian and Chinese travelers can stay in Malaysia for up to 30 days without a visa, as part of the country’s visa liberalization plan introduced on December 1, 2023.
Datuk Awang Alik also stated that the extension reflects Malaysia’s goal to become a key tourist hub in the region, welcoming international visitors and benefiting local businesses connected to the tourism industry.
