Lost Your PF UAN Number? Recover It Easily with Just One SMS

UAN (Universal Account Number) is a crucial identification number for all employees in government, private, or other sectors.

This 12-digit number, issued by EPFO, helps access services like checking PF balance, downloading passbooks, transferring funds, and making claims online.

  • Submit the form. You’ll receive an OTP on your mobile.

  • Enter the OTP. Your UAN will be sent via SMS to your phone.

2. Find UAN Through SMS

  • From your registered mobile, send an SMS:

    • Type: EPFOHO UAN ENG

    • Send to: 7738299899

  • You’ll get an SMS in seconds with your UAN, PF balance, and other details.

  • For other languages, replace ENG with your language code (e.g., HIN for Hindi, PUN for Punjabi).

3. Use the UMANG Mobile App

  • Download the UMANG App and go to EPFO Services.

  • Tap on ‘Know Your UAN’.

  • Enter your mobile number and required details, and verify with OTP.

  • Your UAN will be displayed on the screen.

4. Know UAN Through Missed Call

  • Give a missed call to 012901406 from your EPFO-registered mobile number.

  • The call will disconnect automatically, and you’ll receive an SMS with your UAN and other details.

5. Check Salary Slip or Ask HR

  • Most companies print the UAN on monthly salary slips.

  • If it’s not there, simply ask your HR or payroll team to provide it.

Does UAN Ever Change?

  • No, your UAN stays the same for your entire career.

  • Even if you switch jobs and a new PF account is created, your UAN remains unchanged.

  • If you accidentally have two UANs, contact EPFO to get them merged.

  • Once you get your UAN, link it with Aadhaar, PAN, and your bank account.

  • This ensures smooth access to services like online claims, balance checks, and KYC.

  • If you don’t receive an OTP or face issues, update your mobile number and Aadhaar details with EPFO or through your HR.
