Reliance Jio has updated the prices of its mobile plans recently. Starting July 3, 2024, they will be increasing the prices of several plans.
In anticipation of this change, many users hurried to recharge their preferred plans at the current lower rates.
Additionally, Jio has announced the discontinuation of two popular plans: Rs 395 and Rs 1559, both of which offered unlimited data.
The reasons behind Jio’s decision to discontinue these plans are yet to be disclosed.
These plans of Jio are discontinued
Jio’s Rs 395 plan and Rs 1559 plan both offer unlimited 5G data. The Rs 395 plan has a validity period of 84 days.
The Rs 1559 plan, on the other hand, provides a validity period of 336 days, making it suitable for individuals who rely heavily on mobile data.
Why were the plans discontinued?
1. The plans were discontinued to encourage users to recharge with other prepaid options, allowing them to schedule activation for future use. However, the Rs 395 and Rs 1559 plans are no longer available.
2. Jio’s decision can be viewed as a strategic step to prevent revenue loss.
3. These plans from the company, offering unlimited data and extended validity periods, could affect Jio’s average revenue per user (ARPU), a crucial metric for telecom companies.
Impact of tariff hikes
Jio’s tariff price hike will impact various plans across its spectrum. For instance, the base Rs 155 plan will undergo a 22% increase, rising to Rs 189.
This overall increase shows that Jio aims to raise its ARPU and improve revenue streams.
