The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a major weather alert for June 30, warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning,
and strong winds across 21 states. Wind speeds may reach 70 to 75 kmph in several areas, increasing the risk of falling trees, damage to crops, and travel disruptions.
People have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather conditions, especially in forested and hilly areas. Farmers have also been asked to stay alert as heavy rain and hailstorms could damage standing crops.
Why Is the Weather Becoming Severe?
According to the Meteorological Department, a western disturbance is active in the middle troposphere, while another weather trough is extending from northeastern Madhya Pradesh to Telangana in the lower atmosphere.
These weather systems are expected to trigger widespread rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds across large parts of India.
In some areas, hailstorms have also been predicted. Authorities have advised people to stay indoors during intense storms and avoid taking shelter under trees.
