India’s ride-hailing market has a new player. Green SM, the electric mobility company backed by VinFast’s parent group Vingroup, has officially entered the Indian market with the launch of its electric cab service, Green SM Limo, in Delhi-NCR.

This marks the company’s first expansion into South Asia and could increase competition for major ride-hailing platforms already operating in the country.

Started With 1,000 Electric Vehicles

Green SM has launched its services with a fleet of around 1,000 electric vehicles in Delhi-NCR.

The company has ambitious plans for expansion and aims to increase its fleet to 10,000 electric vehicles in the region over the coming months.

Speaking at the launch event, Haryana Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh said the company had informed the state government about its future expansion plans.

If achieved, this large-scale rollout could make Green SM one of the biggest electric ride-hailing operators in the region.

Challenge for Uber, Ola and Rapido?

Green SM’s arrival comes at a time when the adoption of electric vehicles is growing rapidly in India.

The company could emerge as a strong competitor to established ride-hailing services such as Uber, Ola, Rapido and several local operators.

It is also becoming India’s first major all-electric ride-hailing platform after the exit of BluSmart from the market.

Already Operating in Multiple Countries

According to Green SM Global CEO Nguyen Van Thanh, the company has expanded quickly since its launch and currently operates in five countries.

Before entering India, Green SM was already providing services in:

Vietnam

Laos

Indonesia

Philippines

The company says it has built a network of more than 150,000 driver partners and has become one of the fastest-growing electric mobility platforms in the region.

Fare Starts at ₹8 Per Kilometre

Green SM has set its starting fare at ₹8 per kilometre.

To attract new customers, the company is also offering a limited-time promotional discount.

Riders can get 50% off on bookings, with a maximum discount of ₹250 per ride.

The offer is available for rides booked between June 5 and June 11.

Users can book rides through the Green SM mobile app, which is available on both Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

Expansion to Happen in Phases

The company has initially launched its services in selected areas of Delhi-NCR.

Green SM says it will gradually expand its coverage based on customer demand and market response.

With thousands of electric vehicles planned and competitive pricing, the new entrant could add fresh competition to India’s fast-growing ride-hailing industry while also supporting the shift towards cleaner transportation.
